Went hiking and offroading w/ Dr. BL.

We saw many jackrabbits, a soaring crew of Nighthawks, and a flock of Valley Quail roosting in a tree.

During the hike we came across an old, rusted car from the 40s that had been shot many times. Inside was a packrat nest of sticks.

Late

Ugh, I've been going to bed too early.

Went exploring through an abandoned hospital. A perfect horror film set.

Went horseback riding on Milford Grade, ~8 miles, w/ MS.

Horse named Cole. Black horse sunbleached brown.

Learned the gear, to saddle 'em up, and warm the horses up for a ride.

Ribbing

1st day back in the gym after the rib injury. feels like wearing a corset, of pain.

told the bosses i'm taking sept off for school. sad faces all around.

two days ago the woman who makes my paninis at the deli bumped into me coming down from the shower. yes, she's sleeping with my roommate. without contacts in, i was stuck listening to this voice talk about our talks. i learned today when i went in to order. she's very pleasant.

trying to figure out public transportation around palo alto. there's lots of it, calculating a path to a general destination is like calculus.

Randy, who states he would only work half-time, has accepted a 2yr service agreement for loan repayment. describing the job as "pure torture" he says he'll be gone in 2. last week he sais that a second agreement pays 70k, up from 30k.

Nancy at SQ is also juggling whether to take the 30 for 2y or get out vested in 1. and maybe go to nursing school.

pulling into my driveway, i almost bump a fawn. there are dear everywhere. and some must be depressed with (+)SI as they seem to throw themselves in front of cars.

Petted Mr. Jinglebells neighborly companion Longfur. He hisses when excited. Rather bizarre.

Peaking

B-day for the senior officer in my clinic. 44yo, "I'm not over the hill, just high enough for nosebleeds."

Completed the first OTMR clinic day. So we made house calls for the entire line instead of patients coming to clinic. A big hit among patients, officers, nurses and scheduling.

Gave my Success on C 2 presentation. As usual, poorly accepted by the weaker staff who desire an excuse for failing more than an opportunity to succeed.

First dinner at the White House. Thai food.

Then went up Thompson's Peak with Melissa, Bill and Orry.

The elevation was so high that my ears are still ringing and pressured now.

Reboot

I'm back up after being advised to stop blogging my the state admin. (job stuff.)

Summary of weekend:

Friday B-day.

Went to Reno, attempted to drive to Stanford, failed 2' traffic, returned to Reno, took myself to Inception (excellent film), drove to Fresno to see Joe and we ate at Ruth's Chris, with the same waitress as last year.

Saturday: Joe and I toured the Visalia. Saw Salt. (fair, not a $ waste.) drove to stanford, stayed at Domain Hotel (techie boutique).

Sunday: toured Stanford, tennis tourney, Hoover Tower, Munger Dorms.

Monday: called housing to talk myself into better view. told admin i'm going PT. dinner w/Orry @ deli.

Tues: dinner w/ Tyana, saved a puppy drowning in the Susanville river (big hero for the ladies!)
